The Readers' Choice

This week’s interviewee is another tireless nagg - er, encourager of fanfic writers, and they all love her for it! She posts lovely feedback on Zoomway’s boards as well as sending private notes, and she’s one of the people whose comment posts will bring a big smile to an author’s face. So without further ado, let us introduce this week’s guest on The Readers’ Choice...

Anita Hook

Whereabouts in the world are you?
USA - Commonwealth of Massachusetts

How long have you been a FoLC?
since 1998

What drew you to Lois and Clark?
In addition to the timeless romantic B plot, the well done scripts and wonderful dialogue

When did you first discover fanfic?
About a month after I started watching the series regularly on TNT....the fall of 1998

What's the very first fanfic you read? Do you remember what your first thoughts were about the concept of fanfiction?
Montrose's Toast by Phil....I thought the concept of fanfiction was absolutely wonderful... It gave me a chance to continue to enjoy the adventures of my favorite couple

What are your favourite sites for reading fanfic?
Zoom's boards, The LnC Fanfic Archives

List some stories you'd recommend to other readers.
Oh God, I wouldn't know where to begin... I would have to list a very long list of my favorite writers. Suffice it to say all the established writers writing anything gets my attention.

A new story goes up on the Archive or MBs. You drop everything - and we mean *everything* - to read it. So who would it be by? <g>
See my last answer... but if I were to have to choose one I would say LabRat.

What type of stories do you most enjoy reading, and why?
Although I enjoy all the stories, I avoid those stories know as 'Deathfic'. I won't read them even though I'm probably missing some brilliant writing. As for the rest, I really love revelation stories and stories that have Lois and Clark working together as a team. I just love the concept of the equality of their relationship.

What's your opinion of:
For me on a scale of 1 to 10
Drama?
6
Action?
4
Romance?
10
Tearjerkers?
10
WAFFy vignettes?
10
Elseworlds?
9
Alternate Universe/Beginnings?
9

Can you choose one, possibly two, stories you'd consider personal favourites, and tell us what you like about them?
Burnout by LabRat is on the top of my list of favorites with many others a close second.. WFBL by Kathy Brown, A Conscious Choice by Wendy Richards, Heaven's Prisoners by Demi, the FOD series by Yvonne Connell....and so many more. I think all these stories have a common theme... A romantic basis with just enough angst to make them interesting:)

Has everything been done in L&C fanfic? Are there any unexplored scenarios? Or doesn't it matter? <g>
It doesn't matter. There's always a new twist to the established stories...

If you could be your favourite author's personal Muse, what would your dream story premise be?
I don't know. I have no imagination, that's why I'm a reader rather than a writer:)

In your opinion, what makes for the best story? What ingredients, in your opinion, are essential to your favourite type of fanfic?
I’m a sucker for a good romantic plot, so as I said earlier, any story that has LnC working together and discovering their love for each other....I'm a hopeless romantic:)

Any other comments you'd like to make?
Just a thank you for including me in your survey. I appreciate so very much all the hard work authors put into their projects and I want to take this opportunity again to thank you all for making my leisure time so enjoyable
