Lois and Clark or Superman Status

How long have you been watching L&C?
Since the pilot

How long have you been a fan of Superman?
I've always kind of liked him, watched the Superman movies with Chris Reeve, but it was never a very strong feeling

How long have you been writing?
Well, I have a notebook from about Grade 7 with some truly awful beginnings to several stories. Other than English, I've never really written anything.

How long have you been writing L&C fanfic?
Since just after Tempus, Anyone?

What types of Fanfic have you written?
One alt-Universe, and one short vignette.

Most recent story posted? Where?
"The New Bed" at the Archive.

Favorite story you have written? Why?
Hmm, I like them both!

Current project/projects?
I have a few ideas ... nothing written down yet, but a take on the Princess Bride and a revelation in Fly Hard are currently swimming around in my brain.

Personal picks of other Fanfics you have read?
Very hard to determine. I can't even decide how to vote on the Kerths! I love all of Zoomway's work, Debby's 'Dawning', Plan9Lives 'On the Run', Margaret Brignell's alt series, Chris Mulder's work, Love 'As a Blonde' by Sandy McDermin, and many others I am sure I am forgeting. Oh, and Kathy Brown's too!

General Interview Questions

What attracted you to writing Fanfic and what about it do you enjoy?
I enjoy the characters of Lois, Clark and Superman. We were given such a great world and they are so fun to play with! I had read so many and then just decided one day, hey, I can do that!

What about the L&C and the characters do you like the most?
They are just such interesting characters. Lois' headstrong, take charge nature, combined with a sensitive heart that at first only Clark can see. Clark's caring, open, generous heart, that is see as weak by villians but is what makes him really strong. Oh, and he can fly! How fun is that!

How do you interpret them in your work?
I think I try to stay close to the original. Of course, my first work was in the alternate universe, so I knew the alt-Clark and alt-Lois would be somewhat different from 'ours'.

How did you begin writing in general?
Had an idea I liked, and decided to take the plunge.

How do you feel about being nominated for a Kerth Award?
Unbelievably thrilled and honoured. We have such quality writers in FoLCdom, and to be counted among them, it's just beyond words.

What story of yours was nominated for a Kerth Award and could you tell about it?
'The New Bed'. It's just a short, humourous piece about the small annoyances of life.

Have you ever been nominated for the Kerth Award before? If so, please name the fanfic and tell something about it.
I was privileged to be nominated last year for 'Clark and Lois, the Alternate Adventures.' It was written in response to Tempus, Anyone, because I couldn't bear the thought of Alt-Clark all alone!

What are you working on now and where do you see it going?
As I said, nothing is written down yet, but a couple of ideas have popped into my head recently. A rewrite of Lois and Clark down as a fairy tale ala The Princess Bride, and an early revelation to more that just Lois, and how Clark deals with that. Not that I'm sure yet how he'll deal with it, but I'm sure it will come to me!

What is your opinion about the following types of L&C fanfic's?
Action?
Good, as long it has some of the types listed below as well.

Drama?
I'm a complete romantic, so while I can really enjoy a good cry, I really, really want happy endings!

Humor?
Love it.

Round Robin?
Those Round Robin writers are amazing! Even when you can 'see' the shift in writers, its fun to see how different writers go off in different directions. Very enjoyable.

Nfic?
As a whole, I think the nfic writers I know are very tasteful, so I read it ;-)

Has *everything* been done in your opinion, and if not, what is left?
Ha! Not even close. There are as many ways of writing the story of Lois and Clark as there are writers, and we have a good many of those. So the sky's the limit!

What do you think makes the best story?
A good mix of humour and interaction and supporting characters and villians and WAFFs, maybe a WHAM or two, followed by more WAFFs ...really, as long as the author has a story to tell, long or short, I'm there!

Would you like to add a link or URL to your favorite fanfic for the readers to sample your writing?
I love that Archive!

I'd just like to take this opportunity to say kudos to everyone involved in FoLCdom. I've been reading some fanfic from other shows lately, and it has just re-impressed on me what a consistent level of quality we have here. And the amazing support. It has been just amazing to share with great writers who have been with Lois & Clark from the beginning, and see new fans join and be welcomed with open arms. New writers are encouraged and supported. The Archive is an amazing endeavour, and those who run and maintain it have my highest regard. The Kerth awards are also an amazing effort by all involved, and it just blows me away how dedicated everyone involved is, while holding down jobs, raising kids, being married, and just generally have a life off-line too! Thanks to all the great FoLC's I've 'met' and I look forward to more great times to come.
