Lois and Clark or Superman Status

How long have you been watching L&C?
I caught the last couple of eps at the end of the first season, then watched faithfully till the end, then saw it on TNT until the beginning of the fourth season in Fall 97.

How long have you been a fan of Superman?
I've always enjoyed anything Superman.

How long have you been writing?
I've written poems and short stories all my life.

How long have you been writing L&C fanfic?
Since my freshman year in college, Fall 94? Or 95? It's been a long time!

What types of Fanfic have you written?
Revelation, WAFF, WHAM, poem

Most recent story posted? Where?
My most recent story was a very short piece on the MB's called "Five Seconds Too Late".

Favorite story you have written? Why?
I love all my stories, except one. I think of them as if they were my children. I create them, and give them life. Sometimes, they take on a life of their own, and all I can do is watch and see where they go. If I had to name one, I guess I'd say, "After Life-When Morning Comes".

Current project/projects?
I am always working on new stories, whether I'm just thinking about them, actually writing them. Right now I'm working on one called "Princess...Lois?" the other is "In the Presence of Evil".

Personal picks of other Fanfics you have read?
Too many to count! Right now, I really liked "People v. Clark Kent", and "Dance with Me". Some of the older ones that I go back to are "Clark Who?", "Shot in the Dark", and anything Wendy's written!!

General Interview Questions

What attracted you to writing Fanfic and what about it do you enjoy?
I just love challenging myself, and this seemed like the best way. I love taking old eps and giving them a new spin, or one specific event and turning it around. I especially love coming up with whole brand new ideas, stuff that's not been done. I love originality.

What about the L&C and the characters do you like the most?
Gee, that's not a very broad question!!! Well, I love the way they all work together to get something done. They all have the same ambition; to beat the bad guys, and to make a great newspaper!! They all work together like a finely tuned machine, unlike other shows like Law&Order where you have people working against each other, or ER, where everyone has their own problems to deal with. What I love about L&C of course, is that Clark Kent is basically as perfect as "humanly" possible. He's kind to everyone, thoughtful, generous, sincere, loyal, he's a good listener, and let's not forget that he's drop-dead, knock-your-socks-off, out-of-this-world GORGEOUS, and hopelessly in love with Lois Lane. Lois Lane is an archetype of womanly achievement; she's strong, independent, determined, resourceful, extremely intelligent, and highly successful in a very demanding business. She's also extremely beautiful and has Clark wrapped around her little finger!

How do you interpret them in your work?
In lots of different ways. In some they're strong and take-charge, and sometimes they're helpless and lost. In "Come Back to Me", Clark comes home eager to reunite with Lois, only to find that while he was gone, she became catatonic. He felt horrible, knowing that his absence was the cause of her condition, so he does everything he can to bring her back, eventually using his love to heal her. On the other hand, in "Even a Super Heart can be Broken", it's Clark who's ill believing he's lost Lois, and when she finds him dying, she takes the initiative and helps him live again.

How did you begin writing in general?
I've always written short stories and poems, all my life.

How do you feel about being nominated for a Kerth Award?
I was ecstatic!!! Mine was not the most dramatic, or funniest, or steamiest story, so I was pleasantly surprised. I was surprised at the category in which it was nominated, but happy anyway.

What story of yours was nominated for a Kerth Award and could you tell about it?
"Come Back to Me" was nominated in '99, I think. Basically, Clark comes home from NK, eager to see Lois again, but is shocked to discover that she's become catatonic waiting for him to fulfill his promise to come back. The doctor can't help, but to suggest that he use his love for her to snap her out of it.

Have you ever been nominated for the Kerth Award before? If so, please name the fanfic and tell something about it.
No, that's the only one.

What are you working on now and where do you see it going?
Right now, I'm working very hard on a story called "Princess...Lois?". It's a first season fic. While L&C are sent to France to cover a story, each plans a way to get closer to their `love', Clark to Lois, and Lois to Superman. But a bizarre case of mistaken identity comes up and suddenly everything changes.

What is your opinion about the following types of L&C fanfic's?
Action?
I can't really get into action stories.

Drama?
I love a good dramatic story.

Humor?
Love `em, love `em, love `em

Round Robin?
As long as the differences between writing styles aren't too disparate.

Nfic?
As long as it's not too hard-core. There has to be a story in there somewhere. If it's just sex, it can get boring.

Has *everything* been done in your opinion, and if not, what is left?
I think people will always come up with new ideas. Look at what they've done to TOGOM!! If we stop coming up with new ideas, something is wrong.

What do you think makes the best story?
A good plot that can be followed with not too many twists and turns, some humor, some romance, some teasing on Clark's part, and maybe a bit of conflict to stir things up and enhance their relationship.

Would you like to add a link or URL to your favorite fanfic for the readers to sample your writing?
Sure. http://www.lcfanfic.com/stories/2000/afterlif.txt

Where is the best place for a reader to locate your work?
The L&C Archive

Open Forum For Author Comments
I think the archive is a great place for amateur authors to get a start at writing. Some of the best stuff I've ever read is there, and some of the worst. I look forward each week to seeing what people have cooked up, and I love receiving and sending feedback, letting people know what I think. I've also made some good friends in the process.
